With 4 self-paced lessons you can develop your concept and create a polished outline for your book

Here’s how it works: Watch the introduction video to get oriented, then download and work through each of the Four Lessons with their respective Worksheets (PDFs) to set a strong foundation for your manuscript. Each lesson is described upfront with an accompanying video and students get unlimited access to all materials.

Once your outline is set, there's nothing to stop you from completing your book!

Lesson One asks, “Are you ready to write and publish your book?” and poses leading questions to help you uncover your true purpose in writing and to assess your skills.

By doing some soul-searching upfront, you’ll gain insights to help you make the best decision about when to pursue self-publishing or to identify areas that you may want to develop more fully before moving forward.

Lesson Two makes clear that “framing and positioning” your book means aligning your objectives with your readers’ interests, so that you can sharpen your manuscript and write for your audience.

Ask yourself this question: How will your book serve your readers? What will they get out of it? While your book can bring many benefits to you, the author, ultimately the book is for your readers. Once you can determine what your readers will get out of your book, you'll know how to position your book.

In Lesson Three you’ll learn how to conduct a competitive title analysis to help you write your book.

As a book coach, I always suggest that my clients look at competing book titles before they dive into their own writing. Why? Because a well-written book can shape and improve our own work. Reading and studying books in the same genre as yours as you develop your manuscript will help you to emulate professionally published works.

Lesson Four -  Only after completing the first three lessons will you create a detailed outline for your own book in Lesson Four. It’s fine if you’ve been blogging, writing articles, and have captured some of your ideas in the early stages to begin your work. But once you’re ready to get serious about writing a book-length manuscript, it’s time for a meaningful outline.

A good outline helps you to structure and organize your work. An outline will focus your thoughts and cover relevant topics, stories, and thought points so you can avoid straying off course or wasting time.

Kelly Surette

“Lindsay is an invaluable resource to any self-publisher. Whether you are in the beginning stages first formulating a book idea, or if you are ready to begin printing and marketing your book, Lindsay is someone you want on your team."

Dave Briglio

"Lindsay’s Jumpstart Your Book lessons made things really clear for me – which is what I needed most, with so many ideas and concerns running through my head on how to write my first book.  I just followed the steps, which helped me keep a focus – but they still let my thoughts stay loose and creative.

By the end, my biggest worries (i.e. failing and disrupting my family and day-job) were gone and I had an outline I really liked and was excited to turn into my first manuscript. And since then, each day I’ve worked on it, it didn’t feel like work at all."
